A Camp Unlike Any Other

Our site is found along the shores of Lac Mercier in the picturesque and welcoming Laurentian Mountains of Quebec. Kinneret provides a unique and enriching experience focussed on attention given to the individual camper; the size of the camp is maintained at a level that ensures friendship and cooperation across all age groups (7 to 15 year olds). Each summer a community is created that both campers and staff come to regard as a family.

Programming:
Our talented and experienced staff are committed to providing a rich Jewish summer camping experience complemented by exciting recreational activities. Shabbat is observed through traditions that all camper can identify and connect with, and that become their own as the summer progresses. As well, a variety of original programs run throughout the summer based on personal exploration of one's connection to Judaism and Israel.

Beyond this, Kinneret’s aim is to make each camper’s summer safe, fun and enriching. Our sports program includes basketball, volleyball, road hockey, archery, go-carting, soccer, fitness, hiking and much more. Our arts program gives the camper opportunities to explore drama, music, dance, video, and a variety of craft activities. As well, cookouts, nature programming, and overnight camping/canoe trips provide the chance to experience the incredible wilderness that surrounds us. Our waterfront program includes swimming instruction, canoeing, pedal boats, life saving and recreational swimming; achievements are awarded in accordance with the guidelines of the Canadian Red Cross and Royal Lifesaving Society.

Staff:
Our program is implemented by experienced, qualified and caring staff ranging in age from 18-24. Most are graduates of the CYJ Program and all have participated in our own leadership training. What truly sets them apart, however, is their profound devotion to the camper. As well, waterfront personnel have been recognized by the Canadian Red Cross and the Royal Lifesaving Society. We continue to invest in our staff and in the summer by providing them with ongoing enrichment opportunities throughout the academic year and the summer season. Our planning for the next summer begins soon after the last one ends.

Please see our Meet the Staff Section to learn more about this year's staff team.

Units:
Campers are divided into unit groups (specific to their age), according to which cabins are organized. This allows campers to spend more time with others their age and allows the staff to provide some programming that is more specific to the interests of the different groups.

>Giborim refers to those campers aged 7-9, currently in or having completed grades 1-3; Goshrim are those 10-11, currently in or having completed grades 4-5. These two groups are combined to form the Gib/Gosh unit.
>The Kochot unit is made up of all campers 12-13 years old, currently in or having completed grades 6-7.
> LITs or Leaders in Training are those campers aged 14-15 years old, currently in or having completed grades 8-9. Please see our FAQ page for more information about our LIT program.
